This quiet beach enjoys the reputation of being one of the most pristine beaches in active sea in Orissa. Situated about 16 km from Berhampur, it is becoming opular with a large number of sea-worshippers who have heard of its delights. The crumbling walls and pillars of an ancient jetty are witness to Gopalpur's maritime past when it was an active port. This is a popular beach town and holiday place. Swimming and sunbathing are likely to draw a crowd of local watchers. Otherwise, it’s a relaxing place.

It is easiest to get here via Berhampur (16km), from where there are frequent buses and shared jeeps.

The high season is from November to January. The hotels are fifty percent cheaper at other times of the year.
