PURI Among
the various beaches of Orissa, the most famous one is Puri beach, for
its golden sands, soothing sun-bath and the colorful sunrise and
sunset. There you can bathe and laze or enjoy seeing, the local
fishermen plying their catamarans and sail boats. This beautiful beach
is quite long and wide extending for miles. Site
of a Shaivite shrine, Beleswar, located 15 km from Puri, has an
interesting beach where several fun filled hours can be spent. The
Casuarina fringed Balighai beach, located 8 km from Puri, is a famous
picnic spot. The juxtaposition of gentle casuarina-lined river with
crashing, desolate ocean coast is a strange and extremely
beautiful.One may also catch a glimpse of the shy Baliharina deer who
inhabit the area. The Sea Turtle Research Centre is another attraction
of this beach. Chandipur
is a peaceful sea side resort where the sea recede and proceed 5 km
everyday. Chandipur is 16 km away from Balasore. Other places of
tourist interest around Balasore are Remuna, Panchalingeswar, Aradi
and Chandaneswar. One of the most pristine beaches of Orissa, this quiet beach is a splendid retreat for sea-worshippers, located about 16 km from Berhampur. Konark beach is 3 kms away from the famous Sun temple along the Puri
